Rosy Champagne MUMM "Cordon Rouge Rosé".

G.H. Mumm Rosé was launched in 1957 under the name Cordon Rosé. Leonard Foujita, a Japanese artist and friend of René Lalou, the company chairman, gave G.H. Mumm a fresco depicting “The Virgin in the Vines”. The rose featured in the painting became the cuvée’s emblem and appears on the metallic cap on top of the cork. With its balance of freshness and intensity, G.H. Mumm Rosé stays true to the house style. It’s made by the age-old Champagne tradition of mixing red wine of the region with white wines.

Nosing

With the nose :

The sparkle is delicate but lively, with light, elegant bubbles.
There are forest- and fresh-fruit aromas of strawberry, redcurrant and grapefruit on the nose. These are offset by caramel and vanilla accents reminiscent of G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge.

with the mouth :

In the mouth, the wine has exceptional length due to its Pinot Noir content. The fruit and caramel notes give it a pleasingly fresh and rounded taste.

final taste :

G.H. Mumm Rosé is built on a foundation of Cordon Rouge with its 77 constituent crus. It’s thus a complex, fresh-tasting wine.

Commentary :

Some of the 60% Pinot Noir is from red wine of the region, mostly from Bouzy, that accounts for 12-14% of the blend, giving G.H. Mumm Rosé its pink colour and more fruited taste.
