L'histoire de la Maison commence en 1772, lorsque Philippe Clicquot fait paraître un avis dans la Gazette de France annonçant qu'il " fonde négoce de vins à l'enseigne Clicquot ".
En 1798, son fils François, qui vient d'épouser Barbe Nicole Ponsardin, reprend la Maison. Il décède prématurémment en 1805 mais Madame Clicquot poursuivra son oeuvre avec tenacité, audace et passion.
Commence alors une merveilleuse histoire : la naissance d'un grand vin de Champagne et la révélation d'une " grande dame de la Champagne ".
